JOB DESCRIPTION: A Clinical Supervisor is expected to function independently using his/her knowledge and professional experience to guide and direct clinical and therapeutic service delivery of Social Workers and Counselors as assigned. S/he/they provide clinical direction, supervision, and leadership. This position works intensely with agency administration to ensure the highest quality of professional services are delivered. The Clinical Supervisor also assists in the recruitment and selection of clinical staff and conducts ongoing training and professional skills development for clinical staff. In addition, a Clinical Supervisor will work with an assigned caseload of children, their families and/or adults, whose needs might be more complex, requiring more experienced skills. As such, he/she conducts individual, family and group therapy as well as crisis intervention to assist clients/families in establishing basic emotional support and encouragement leading to constructive living patterns.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provides developmental clinical supervision and training for clinical staff and handles appropriate personnel matters in consultation with his/her immediate supervisor.
- Reviews, signs, and provides feedback for all required clinical paperwork/ documentation completed by assigned staff.
- Recruits, selects, and conducts clinical orientation for newly hired professional staff. Serves as Field Instructor for interns and other student service programs.
- Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and local certification/ credentialing requirements and ensures clinical staff continues on a path of professional development.
- Conducts clinical staff meetings addressing changes and improvements in clinical practice and develops / presents related training. Interprets policy guidelines for clinical staff.
- Advises and assists his/her immediate supervisor in establishing / monitoring agency policies and clinical practices to include records management, quality assurance, and participates in new protocol development.
- Plans, organizes, evaluates and upgrades clinical programming and curriculum.
- Provides direct therapeutic services to clients and their families according to need.
- Maintains contact and consults with community agencies as the clients’ mental health advocate and as a mental health professional on the treatment team.
- Maintains timely, complete and accurate record documentation.
- Assists in linking clients to outside community agencies and community resources as indicated and appropriate.
- Provide clinical supervision/consultation for other agency programs as directed by administration.
- Attends and participates at staff/agency meetings.
- Maintains self in a professional manner at all times, adhering to OMH guidelines, Neighborhood Center policy and procedures and in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement, as well as NASW Code of Ethics.
- Performs other duties as requested by Agency Administration.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required or Licensed Clinical Social Worker-R (LCSW-R) preferred with the Master’s Degree in Social Work from a regionally accredited or New York State registered graduate school with current licensure.
- Minimum of four (4) years post-Master’s experience with at least three (3) in a mental health setting (preferably children’s mental health) and two (2) years supervisory experience (including supervision of Master’s level staff) consistent with the scope and capacity of The Neighborhood Center treatment services.
- Experience in providing individual, family and group therapies to severely emotionally disturbed children and adults and their families.
- Ability and prior experience to provide a leadership role with a multidisciplinary staff.
- Ability and prior experience to handle the assignment of emergency and/or difficult cases above and beyond standard expectations
