General Purpose of the Position:
The primary duties of the Quality Technician B position are to verify product compliance with quality standard by monitoring production and maintaining test equipment under the general direction of the Quality Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Follow proper OSHA standards and is trained in lock out/tag out, confined spaces, hazard communications, hazardous waste, and fire training.

Follow all plant safety rules.

Understands and follows ISO procedures and GMP personnel practices and guidelines.
-
Obtain and test samples of materials according to standard procedures to ensure compliance with established internal and external specifications.
-
Report any quality, processing problems, and out-of-spec conditions to the Quality Supervisor and/or appropriate manufacturing department personnel.
-
Approve and release products or issue hold tags for any material that does not meet product specifications.
-
Maintain a hold log of any material that does not meet product specification.
-
Review and recommend changes to work instructions and forms.
-
Train new technicians in lab techniques/procedures as needed.
-
Maintain the lab supplies inventory and order lab supplies when necessary.
-
Maintain accurate operation of equipment, including calibrating lab equipment by procedures.
-
Generate required reports and records from product testing.
-
Perform ISO audits to obtain objective evidence that the elements and requirements of the quality management system are effectively implemented.

Use Ink Rub Tester to test ink resistance on surface-to-surface rubbing.
-
Use Gloss Meters to measure the reflective surface of products.
-
Use COF (Coefficient of Friction) testers to determine the static coefficients of friction of paper, film, and other materials.
-
Use Color Standards and a Light Booth to verify color.
-
Use Color Key Layovers (3M) to match individual color key layovers to the cylinders to verify type and graphics.
-
Review the daily press schedule and assemble the job jacket (Product Development Form, Ink Sheet, 3M, Color Standard, etc.) for each job.

Create and maintain Color Standard Books per product/job.
-
Maintain all product samples by the required retention time specified by the customer.

Collect samples for the Customer, Customer Service Reps, and Shipping Samples.

Perform periodic checks to verify the Vigitek is functioning on each Press.
-
Analyze, compile data, and develop Certificates of Analysis for required shipments.
-
Perform all essential duties and responsibilities instructed by management.
-
All other tasks and duties assigned by management.

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:

Basic computer skills to operate a computer to obtain customer job specifications/ISO procedures for processing and converting of material labels.

Demonstrate Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel software.
Physical Requirements:

Work requires exerting up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.

Apply up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally.

Move and lift objects up to 75 lbs. with constant force vertically and/or horizontally.

Ability to stand with often movement to reach, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and twist.

Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.

Visual acuity to inspect products.

Mandatory use of PPE.

Work is performed in a manufacturing facility and office environment. These include areas near operating equipment and chemical usage; in accordance with our safety program, all employees receive informative training on chemicals and equipment used within the plant.

Work performed primarily in a lab environment. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities near operating equipment and chemical usage.
-
The atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc. Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment.
-
Medium work requires exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10 lbs. of force constantly to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally.
Education and Experience Requirements:
-
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
-
Two years of demonstrated work experience required.
-
Associate’s degree in a Quality, Engineering, or other related field is preferred.
