America's premier manufacturer of home elevators is seeking a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing all elevator inspections in the Baltimore, MD and Northern Virginia areas, ensuring that every installation meets NEC, ASME, and local home elevator codes.
Each elevator is custom-built in the USA specifically for the home in which it will be installed. We offer both Traction Machine Room-Less (MRL) and Hydraulic models with a variety of cab styles, options, upgrades, and fixtures. Our sales team manages the project from conception through installation, our factory-trained elevator mechanics are the best in the business, and our world-class service department handles all services for the life of the elevator.
This is a field-based role with 100% travel – you will be inspecting installations across the Baltimore to Northern Virginia corridor.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough elevator safety inspections on residential elevator installations
- Verify that all elevator operations, construction, retrofit, and repair work are performed in accordance with applicable code requirements
- Ensure compliance with ASME A17.1, NEC Article 620, and local jurisdictional codes
- Inspect traction (MRL) and hydraulic elevator systems
- Detect possible defects and faults in equipment installations and maintenance
- Read and interpret schematics, plans, and specifications
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and contract administration documentation
- Coordinate with installation teams, mechanics, and local authorities having jurisdiction
Minimum Qualifications
- CET (Certified Elevator Technician), MD Elevator Mechanic License, or successful completion of the NEEIP program – candidates without these specific credentials will not be considered
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong electrical skills and schematic reading experience
- Willingness to work long hours if needed
- Occasional overnight travel required
- Must be comfortable with heights and working on ladders
- Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs or more and performing hard physical work
- Must be able to work in confined spaces (attics, machine rooms)
- Knowledgeable and experienced in proper use of hand tools
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
