Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Schedule appointments efficiently, coordinate patient flow, and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and conduct insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Collect payments and perform medical collections while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Review medical documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and ensure proper documentation review for billing and care plans.
- Manage medical records and electronic health records (EHR), ensuring proper filing, data entry, and secure handling of sensitive health information.
- Assist with medical billing processes, including coding for procedures and diagnoses, supporting revenue cycle management efforts.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing).
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, Medicare procedures, HIPAA compliance, and medical billing/coding practices including CPT and ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10).
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks such as filing, documentation review, appointment scheduling, and office management efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and health information management tasks.
