We’re partnering with a leading midstream company in South Louisiana seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team. This individual will play a critical role in the development, programming, integration, testing, and commissioning of advanced instrumentation and control systems across a highly technical operational environment.
The ideal candidate is motivated, growth-oriented, and eager to expand into evolving technologies while supporting Operations, Maintenance, SCADA, OMCs, Engineering, Loss Controls, Cybersecurity, and internal/external customers.
Position: Automation Engineer (Oil & Gas)
Type: Full-time Experience Required: 5+ years in Automation, Instrumentation, and Project Management
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot PLC logic, HMI applications, flow computers, and PID control loops.
- Perform FAT, SAT, and point-to-point testing for control system implementations.
- Redline and update I&C documentation including P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, IO lists, and cause-and-effect charts.
- Calibrate and program instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, density, etc.).
- Develop secure data interfaces and communication configurations for internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering on OT network connections and support OT cybersecurity best practices.
- Provide high-level technical support to Operations, Maintenance, SCADA, OMCs, and Engineering.
- Manage capital and expense projects, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule alignment.
- Support the Management of Change (MOC) process and lifecycle planning for I&C assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (Electrical, Automation, Controls), Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, and project management.
- Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills with PLCs, HMIs, flow computers, and PID loops.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
