Acceptional Minds LLC is a family focused support and mentoring program whose primary goal is providing assistance to families affected by autism and other mental health issues through mentoring and education. As our name implies, we value Acceptance and meeting people where they are at.
Acceptional Minds is currently seeking an After School Skill building Co-Coordinator to collaborate with the team to run programming 2pm-7pm M-F and every other Saturday 10-5pm. There is an opportunity for additional hours working as a specialist to make the position full-time.
The After School Co-Coordinators work as a team to oversee the afterschool, non-school days, Saturday Programming and summer programming under the direction of the Youth Communication and Behavior Administrator, Assistant Communication and Behavior Administrator, Director of Services, and the Assistant Director of Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees work of all center staff members working directly with clients.
- Addresses minor disciplinary problems with team members and refers more serious cases to Human Resources and/or the Director of Services or Assistant Director of Services.
- Leads the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new basic support and advanced support specialists on the floor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans and schedules activities that enhance existing programming
- Assists team members with programming.
- Provides written and visual directions for activities.
- Trains staff members in programming techniques using the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model.
Maintains contact and creates a connection with clients and their support systems as directed by the Communication and Behavior Administrator, Assistant Communication and Behavior Administrator, the Director of Services, and the Assistant Director of Services.
- Sends emails as directed and in a timely manner.
- Ensures daily sheets are filled out and sent home with clients.
- Addresses any concerns at pick up.
- Seeks written permission for events, outings, etc.
Communicates center programming updates and information internally and externally.
- Prepares client updates.
- Gives weekly client updates to case workers.
- Provides staff with relevant client updates daily.
- Ensures accuracy and completion of any incident reports.
- Gives relevant updates to supervisors.
Supports staff members on the floor and is part of the crisis team
- Picks up or fills shifts when staff members cannot find a suitable replacement.
- Limits time in office to be present on the floor.
- Participates as a member of the crisis team supporting during escalations and training staff proper techniques
- Models proper Ukeru and Handle with Care techniques on the floor
- Taps out and gives staff breaks as needed.
Keeps the center clean and organized.
- Ensures daily center cleaning.
- Ensures resource upkeep and organization.
- Follows opening and closing procedures.
Performs initial intakes of clients, including initial goals and behavioral support plans.
- Writes monthly progress reports for all clients in the afterschool, non-school day, Saturday Program, and summer program.
- Writes goals and TARP notes for every client assigned.
- Updates goals and has goals meetings with the entire support team every three months.
Perform other related duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements & Preferences:
- Demonstrated ability to follow Handle with Care and Ukeru guidelines
- Strong verbal de-escalation skills
- Advanced ability to accurately write incident reports and follow guidelines
- Ability to lead staff through escalations and debrief with them afterwards

- Must be over 18 and posses a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.
Certification and License Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Auto insurance
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification (within 90 days)
- Mental Health First Aid (within 90 days)
- Handle With Care (within 90 days)
- Ukeru (within 90 days)
- Mandated Reporter (within 90 days)
- ACES training (annually)
Physical Requirements:
*Must be able to safely perform a restraint under the training and guidance of Handle with Care training
*Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
*Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist children throughout the day.
*Must be able to lift to 10lbs routinely and up to 50lbs occasionally

- The core schedule for this position would require availability M-F 2pm-7pm M-F and 10am-5pm every other Saturday. There is the option to pick up additional hours (up to 40/week) if desired.
