HHCI is in search of a Psychiatrist for the Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC). This position is office-based.
Position Summary:
The Psychiatrist operates as the primary prescriber for an assigned caseload of clients within HHCI’s treatment and recovery services division. The Psychiatrist is responsible for utilizing evidence-based practices to assist their clients with meeting their treatment and recovery goals, and operating within the scope of their profession.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all newly admitted clients within 30 days of admission to the program, or earlier if needed
- Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all existing clients annually, or earlier if needed
- Engage clients in recurring medication management sessions monthly, or more if needed
- Complete forms/documents required to support clients' financial insecurities, including the medical 500 form and documents needed to supplement a SSI/SSDI application within 24 hours of the request
- Provide psycho-education to clients
- Electronically prescribe medications, including new medications and refills, via the electronic health record
- Ensure that prescriptions are sent to the clients’ pharmacies no later than the end of the day of the encounter with the client
- Discuss medication changes, concerns, side effects, and a plan to address concerns/side effects with assigned clients
- Document medication changes, concerns, side effects, and plans to address concerns/side effects in the progress note that corresponds with the date of the encounter with the client
- Complete documentation on the electronic health record, including progress notes, psychiatric evaluations, and assessments, within 24 hours of the encounter time
- Review and sign treatment plans completed by the primary psychotherapist of mutually shared clients
- Attend and participate in clinical treatment team meetings, including offering professional recommendations and training the team
- Collaborate with consented external providers and internal clinic personnel, and consented individuals from the clients' support networks regarding the treatment goals of mutually shared clients
- Participate in at least one internal committee within the organization as determined by the CEO
- Provide coverage in the absence of other prescribers within the organization whenever needed
- Provide coverage for the administration of LAIs in the absence of the PMHNPs
- Rotate on-call prescriber responsibilities, and resolve urgent on-call matters via phone
- Complete required trainings within established timeframes
- Comply with all relevant standards and regulations of HHCI, the state of Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and the American Board of Psychology and Neurology (ABPN)
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisors
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Licensed as a Physician with the state of Maryland’s Board of Physicians
- Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
- Maryland CDS registration
- DEA certificate
- Registered as a Maryland Medicaid provider - at minimum as an ORP provider
- Electronic prescribing capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access), electronic health records, and the use of computers/laptops
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong preference for -
- Experience working within an inpatient psychiatric setting
- Experience with individuals who are diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness, and/or dually diagnosed with mental health and substance use conditions
- A year of experience supervisory experience

Pay: $112.00 - $167.00 per hour
