Tow Truck Driver - PPI
Job Title: PPI Tow Truck Driver (Private Property Impound)
Night Shift Schedule: 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. (with consistent schedule and consistent days off)
Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented PPI Tow Truck Driver to enforce private property parking regulations by towing unauthorized or illegally parked vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong observation skills, experience operating a tow truck, and the ability to handle situations professionally and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned private properties (apartment complexes, businesses, retail lots) to identify vehicles in violation of parking rules
- Verify violations and authorize towing in accordance with property agreements and local laws
- Operate tow truck (wheel-lift or flatbed) to remove and transport vehicles to impound lot
- Document each tow with photos, notes, and required paperwork for legal compliance
- Maintain communication with dispatch and property managers
- Ensure proper handling and secure transport of vehicles
- Provide professional interaction with property owners, tenants, and the public
- Follow local regulations, towing laws, and company policies
- Perform daily inspections of tow truck and equipment
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required depending on equipment/state laws)
- Clean driving record
- Previous towing or repossession experience preferred
- Knowledge of local towing, impound, and private property regulations
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Good communication and conflict-resolution skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Capable of bending, climbing, pulling, and securing vehicles
- Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to safely work in parking lots and high-traffic areas
Work Schedule
- Weekend and holiday availability may be required
- On-call shifts possible depending on contracts
Preferred Skills
- Experience with wheel-lift towing systems
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Familiarity with towing software, GPS, and dispatch systems
- Towing/recovery certifications - DCJS
