We are looking for an experienced, sharp and detail-oriented Heavy Transportation (HT) Dispatcher to join our fast-paced operations team in Phoenix. Position Overview
Based out of our Phoenix Branch, your primary focus will be commanding the logistics of massive, oversized and overweight loads within our Heavy Transport division. Reporting directly to the Dispatch Director, you will serve as the central hub of communication, aligning drivers, equipment, permits and clients to ensure flawless execution.
Because we operate as a cohesive, full-service rigging and lifting leader, you will also be a versatile team player who can step up and provide dispatch coverage for our Machinery and Crane divisions when operational demands require it.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule drivers, specialized trailers and heavy equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Map out viable routes capable of accommodating oversized, over-height and overweight loads, avoiding restrictive bridges or obstacles.
- Secure necessary state/provincial permits, escorts and utility clearances required for heavy haul movements.
- Seamlessly adapt to cover dispatching, scheduling and driver coordination for the Machinery Moving and Crane Rental divisions during peak times or coverage gaps.
- Utilize GPS and tracking software to monitor shipments, track driver locations and ensure ETA accuracy.
- Act as the primary lifeline between drivers, customers, escort vehicles and loading/unloading crews.
- Dynamically manage delivery schedules, proactively address delays and resolve on-the-road issues seamlessly.
- Enforce strict adherence to DOT/transportation safety regulations, hours of service (HOS) and weight restrictions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Required Experience: Must have 2+ years of heavy haul/heavy transportation dispatch experience.
- Ability to quickly pivot and manage logistics for varied operations, including specialized machinery moving and crane assets.
- Proven track record in specialized transportation and logistics, specifically dealing with oversized, overweight or superload freight.
- Strong working knowledge of regional route planning, axle-weight distributions and permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions (especially Southwest corridors).
- Proficiency with GPS tracking systems, ELD compliance software and modern Dispatch/TMS platforms.
- Exceptional multitasking, organizational and time-management skills under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently direct field crews and negotiate with clients.
