Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hourly Team Leader / Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations within a fast-paced food service environment. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive restaurant experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences across casual, counter-service, or catering settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise restaurant staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards
- Manage POS systems (Toast) for order processing and cash handling
- Monitor inventory control to ensure proper stock levels and minimize waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Assist in shift management, including opening, closing, and operational duties
- Support kitchen management by coordinating food production and ensuring timely service
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels including 100% table visitation.
- Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members
- Support management in budgeting, cost control, and operational planning
Skills
- Proven experience in food service management or hospitality management with supervising responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Toast or similar; cash handling experience required
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and develop staff effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence
- Ability to manage shift operations efficiently in quick service & fast food or casual dining environments
- Experience with inventory control, food safety protocols, and food handling procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
- Previous experience in restaurant management or assistant manager roles preferred
- Knowledge of catering, banquet service, or hotel/culinary environments is a plus
- Leadership qualities including team management, training & development, and problem-solving abilities
