GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Technical Account Manager leads customer management strategies and technical sales initiatives to ensure a seamless experience from initial lead generation through final project execution. This role serves as a sales leader and primary contact for custom engineered products. This role also actively travels to secure new outside sales, manage account pipelines, and drive revenue growth across regions. Additionally, this position negotiates freight and custom pricing quotes while overseeing customer orders across Engineering, Production, Scheduling, and Shipping to ensure precise execution and maximum client satisfaction.
CORE & ESSENTIAL: TASKS:
- Drive business growth by traveling domestically to engage prospective clients, perform outside sales presentations, and uncover new revenue opportunities
- Direct and oversee the complete lifecycle of customer orders from initial inquiry, pricing, and manufacturing through shipment and post-delivery follow-up
- Lead freight and order quote negotiations with carriers and clients to optimize freight spending, maintain competitive pricing, and protect margins
- Serve as the primary technical contact for custom engineered products, guiding customers on product applications, technical specifications, and system recommendations
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Scheduling, and Shipping teams to ensure product feasibility, production alignment, and on-time order execution
- Formulate competitive price quotes, evaluate project profitability, and manage the precise entry of customer orders into the ERP system
- Identify manufacturing and logistical constraints, resolve complex operational or customer issues, and proactively communicate solutions to clients
- Strategically expand existing customer accounts through targeted consultative selling and technical support
- Analyze industry trends, market dynamics, and technological advancements to keep product offerings and sales strategies competitive
- Conduct customer feedback evaluations and operational surveys to drive continuous improvement initiatives across sales and delivery workflows
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Minimum of 5+ years of customer service, sales, manufacturing, or technical support experience required, with manufacturing and custom/engineered products experience strongly preferred. Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Must possess a strong understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing processes, customer order flow, and excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization and with customers are essential. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications (especially Excel) and ERP system experience required. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Driving is a requirement for this position. Therefore, must have the ability to travel domestically via operating a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver license and driving record which is acceptable to our insurance provider. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. The ability to travel by plane and/or overnight travel may also be required.
