Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, active SLP license and 1+ year of Speech-Language Pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a school-based setting as a Speech-Language Pathologist. This position is based near Calumet City, IL, and will span the academic year from approximately August 17 to May 21. You’ll collaborate with another SLP to serve a diverse caseload of early childhood through 8th grade students, splitting a total caseload of 70 students. Your role will focus on providing high-quality, on-site services as part of a dynamic educational team.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Speech Language Pathologist credential from IDFPR
- CCC-SLP certification (Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA)
- Prior experience in a school setting is highly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
- Must provide candidate ISBE number for submission
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, on-site speech and language therapy to students from early childhood to 8th grade
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Complete evaluations, progress monitoring, and documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to foster student growth
- Manage a shared caseload (approximately 45 students for FTE SLP, 25 for .5 FTE)
- Comply with union policies and timelines, including the potential for interviews beginning in May
