Equipment Transport Driver & Yard Support
Black Peak Equipment – Tremonton, Utah
Full-Time | $17–$25 per hour, depending on licensing and experience
Black Peak Equipment is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined, and safety-conscious employee to transport rental equipment and assist with our shop and yard operations.
We are open to hiring either an experienced CDL driver or an entry-level non-CDL driver who wants to learn and work toward obtaining a CDL.
The ideal candidate enjoys driving, operating equipment, working with their hands, and solving basic mechanical problems. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, takes care of equipment, pays attention to safety, and can work independently once trained.
This is not a driving-only position. When deliveries are completed, the employee will assist with equipment cleaning, inspections, routine maintenance, parts runs, yard organization, and shop support.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and pick up heavy construction equipment at customer locations
- Safely load and unload equipment from trucks and trailers
- Properly secure equipment using chains, binders, straps, and other load-securement equipment
- Inspect loads before transport and verify that equipment is safely secured
- Operate skid steers, excavators, loaders, lifts, and other rental equipment
- Provide customers with a brief overview of basic equipment controls and operation
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections
- Inspect equipment for leaks, damage, warning lights, unusual noises, and other potential problems
- Wash and clean rental equipment
- Grease equipment, check fluid levels, and assist with routine maintenance
- Pick up parts, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Assist mechanics and other team members when needed
- Keep trucks, trailers, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
- Complete delivery paperwork and take condition or delivery photos
- Communicate equipment damage, customer concerns, delays, or safety issues
- Follow company, DOT, load-securement, and equipment-safety procedures
- Help with other shop and yard responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
- CDL preferred but not required
- Non-CDL applicants must be interested in obtaining a CDL in the future
- Mechanically inclined with a basic understanding of tools, vehicles, equipment, or routine maintenance
- Willing and able to learn how to safely operate construction equipment
- Strong attention to detail, especially when inspecting and securing loads
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, muddy, or wet conditions
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Able to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
- Comfortable using a smartphone for navigation, calls, photos, and delivery documentation
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test
- Must be able to meet the applicable physical and medical qualification requirements for the position
- Willing to work a flexible schedule based on deliveries and business needs
Experience in any of the following areas is helpful but not required:
- Commercial or equipment transportation
- Construction, farming, landscaping, or equipment rental
- Operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, lifts, or similar equipment
- Towing, backing, and maneuvering trailers
- Gooseneck, pintle-hitch, tilt-deck, equipment, or similar trailers
- Load securement using chains and binders
- Basic mechanical work or equipment maintenance
We are willing to train the right candidate who is dependable, careful, and genuinely interested in learning.
Schedule
Monday - Friday 7am-4pm. This is a full-time position that generally averages 40–50 hours per week. Hours and start times may fluctuate depending on seasonal workload and scheduled deliveries. Occasional overtime, early mornings, later evenings, longer-distance deliveries, and Saturday work may be required.
