Part-time School Cook Assistant
Description of Company: Since 1891, St. Joseph’s School for the Blind has been providing specialized services to individuals with visual impairments across New Jersey. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, the School is comprised of several programs, such as: Early Intervention, In-district Support Services, School for the Blind, and Adult Services. Position Overview: The Part-time Cook supports the daily operations of the cafeteria, which contribute to the success of students with disabilities.
Required Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or higher
· At least one year of experience cooking in a school setting or kitchen required
Responsibilities and Duties
· Prepares food portions for lunch for the students.
· Serves students from cafeteria counter and engaged in conversation with students.
· Prepares pre-cook meals that follows specific dietary guidelines
· Washes dishes, cleans counter, and surrounding area
· Performs related duties as required including duties at special meal functions.
· Cook will work under the direction of the Head Cook to assist with cooking; Occasional cooking may be required.
· Keeps kitchen and food storage area orderly, clean and neat.
Position Details:
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday - 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (School year) and 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Extended School Year
