Art Instructor Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience teaching or facilitating art activities for children.
- Has worked in elementary setting K -5
- Knowledge of a variety of art mediums and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and crafts.
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that promote creativity and self-expression.
- Strong classroom management and behavior management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Experience working in after-school, summer camp, or youth development programs preferred.
- Must possess current NYC Department of Education (DOE) fingerprint clearance (DOE prints) or be eligible to obtain clearance before employment.
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
- Must successfully pass all required background checks and comply with all program, DOE, and agency policies and procedures.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
