Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced medical imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health.
- Assist dentists during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all treatments and patient interactions clearly and thoroughly.
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards like HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
- Proven experience in dental office environments, preferably with exposure to general dentistry and pediatric dentistry.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Familiarity with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines and other clinical tools used in routine procedures.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention management practices and healthcare infection control standards.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
