Do you enjoy helping nonprofit organizations maintain accurate financial records while ensuring grant compliance and strong fund management? Trout CPA is seeking a Senior Accountant to support our nonprofit and grant-funded clients through outsourced accounting and advisory services.
In this role, you'll work closely with nonprofit leadership teams to manage day-to-day accounting functions, prepare financial reports, monitor grant activity, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts. You'll play a key role in helping mission-driven organizations gain financial clarity, remain compliant, and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain financial records for nonprofit and grant-funded clients

Perform fund accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds

Assist with grant compliance reporting, allowable cost tracking, and grant reconciliations

Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and account reconciliations

Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning activities

Develop financial reports and dashboards for management and board meetings

Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and supporting documentation

Collaborate with Executive Directors, finance teams, and external auditors

Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

Assist with accounting software setup, maintenance, and process improvements

Mentor and support team members as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting

Experience with fund accounting and grant-funded organizations preferred

Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting and grant compliance requirements

Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication and client service skills
