Summary/Objective
The Technical Product & Business Analyst serves as the bridge between FMRT leadership, operations, and software engineering. This role owns the translation of business strategy into technical execution while contributing directly to software development efforts.
Working closely with the Full Stack Software Developer, the Technical Product & Business Analyst manages the software development lifecycle from idea through deployment, ensuring that business priorities are translated into high-quality software solutions.
This role enables the Full Stack Software Developer to focus on system architecture, complex engineering initiatives, and long-term platform scalability while providing technical redundancy, improving development velocity, and reducing key-person risk.

Core Functions
- Serve as the primary liaison between FMRT leadership, operations, and software engineering.
- Translate business objectives and operational needs into technical solutions.
- Own and manage the software product backlog and development priorities.
- Coordinate software releases, testing, and deployment readiness.
- Contribute to software development and technical problem-solving.
- Partner with operations to evaluate workflow changes before development begins, ensuring technology supports scalable, standardized business processes.
- Partner with the Full Stack Software Developer to increase development capacity and reduce key-person risk.
- Drive continuous improvement of FMRT's software platform, business processes, and user experience.
- Ensure software initiatives align with FMRT's operational and strategic objectives.

Product Ownership & Business Analysis
- Own and maintain the software product backlog.
- Facilitate backlog grooming, prioritization, and release planning with leadership and software engineering.
- Meet with leadership, operations, clinicians, and other stakeholders to identify business needs and software enhancement opportunities.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process mapping.
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap to support organizational priorities.
- Evaluate competing business priorities and recommend sequencing of development initiatives.
Software Development & Technical Collaboration
- Work alongside the Full Stack Software Developer to design, develop, test, and implement software enhancements.
- Contribute to application development by developing lower-to-medium complexity features and functionality.
- Troubleshoot software defects and participate in debugging and root cause analysis.
- Write and modify SQL queries, reports, scripts, and data validation tools.
- Participate in code reviews and assist with software documentation.
- Read, understand, and contribute to FMRT's Ruby on Rails application while learning the platform architecture and integrations.
- Assist with API integrations and third-party service implementations.
- Help improve code quality, testing practices, documentation, and deployment processes.
Release Management & Quality Assurance
- Coordinate software release schedules and deployment readiness, including change management and end-user communication.
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and validate completed work against business requirements.
- Verify release readiness by coordinating testing, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Monitor production releases and coordinate resolution of post-deployment issues.
- Maintain release notes and communicate software updates to internal stakeholders.
- Continuously improve release management processes to reduce risk and improve software quality.
Process Improvement
- Analyze business workflows to identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.
- Recommend software enhancements that improve scalability, user experience, and organizational effectiveness.
- Research new technologies and AI solutions that support FMRT's strategic objectives.
- Develop documentation, process maps, and training materials to support software adoption.
Collaboration
- Serve as the primary communication bridge between leadership and software engineering.
- Coordinate software priorities with organizational goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Build collaborative relationships across all departments to ensure software solutions effectively support business operations.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, hybrid location position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, Product Management, Technical Project Management, Software Development, or a closely related technical role.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with software developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
- Experience managing product backlogs, prioritizing software initiatives, and coordinating software releases.
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and software architecture concepts.
- Experience reading, troubleshooting, and modifying existing application code.
- Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
- Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, and third-party software integrations.
- Experience using Git or other version control systems.
- Experience with Agile practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience. Candidates with demonstrated Ruby on Rails development experience, healthcare/public safety software experience, or strong software engineering backgrounds may be considered above the posted range.
