Job Summary:A Boat Rigger / Yard Crew Member handles the physical movement, assembly, and maintenance of boats. This role supports both the service department and marina operations by ensuring vessels are safely transported, rigged, and prepared for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vessel Movement: Operate travel lifts, forklifts, and hydraulic trailers to move boats.
- Boat Rigging: Assemble, install, and adjust masts, sails, standing rigging, and running rigging.
- Hardware Installation: Mount outboard motors, electronic systems, canvas tops, and deck hardware.
- Yard Maintenance: Keep the marina, service bays, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Load Securing: Block, shore, and tie down vessels securely for seasonal storage or transport.
- Launch & Retrieval: Assist with launching boats into the water and hauling them out.
- Pre-Delivery Inspection: Clean, detail, and check systems on new boats before customer pickup.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2-4 years in a marina, boatyard, or maritime environment.
- Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with trailers, heavy machinery, and basic hand/power tools.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather.
- Technical Skill: Basic understanding of boat mechanics, structural loads, and knots.
- Traits: Strong teamwork skills, attention to safety protocols, and keen attention to detail.
