PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Experience as a teaching assistant is preferred
EVALUATION: Evaluated by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or other certified evaluators using the agreed upon evaluation tool.

AVAILABILITY: Two (2.0 FTE) Position(s)/Full-Time
PLACEMENT: District Assignment
WORK CALENDAR: Intensive Teacher Assistant
RATE OF PAY: $28.25 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma
-
State Paraprofessional Approval (sixty [60] or more college hours or pass Paraprofessional Test)

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

REPORTS TO: Certified Teacher(s) and Building Administration
JOB GOAL:
-
The need or necessity for intensive teacher assistant support will be designated in a student’s IEP, 504, MTSS, and/or Intervention/ Safety Plan. The teacher assistant’s primary role is to assist in all aspects of the daily instructional program for students in preschool – grade 8. The teacher assistant will participate in all activities necessary to support students in the least restrictive environment across all educational settings.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the teacher in the preparation of materials
-
With direct supervision of the teacher , guide individual and small group instruction

Assist in behavior management under the direction of the teacher
-
Participate in team planning meetings, staffing, parent conferences during regular work hours as requested by the teacher

Participate in professional development as requested by administration
-
Work collaboratively with the school team to improve services for students
-
Assist with behavioral and social/emotional support for students including but not limited to implementing positive behavioral strategies, de-escalation interventions, physical prompting or safe physical restraints (if certified) under the direction of the school team

Dress appropriately at all times consistent with the school, work site, and community standards

Maintain classroom order, safety and materials

Communicate student needs and performance including behavior concerns to appropriate staff

Implement and support academic, behavioral and communication plans
-
Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students

Perform such other duties and services under the supervising teacher’s direction

Assist in toileting and feeding as appropriate

Assist in safely lifting students
-
Assist with the direct supervision of students across all settings
