Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated PLC Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial automation systems within our manufacturing facilities. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of electrical and control systems, contributing directly to our commitment to quality and efficiency.
Duties
- Assist maintenance staff with trouble shooting by connecting and reading PLC coding (ladder logic) using Rockwell Automation Studio5000 on active production machines
- Ability to write/add PLC code using Rockwell Automation Studio5000 on active production machines
- Ability to link data gathering applications to Rockwell Automation systems
- Demonstrate working knowledge of IO devices and IO modules (both safety rated and non-safety rated), analog devices (both safety rated and non-safety rated), servo motors and induction motors, VFD’s and motor controllers, pneumatic control units (solenoids, manifolds, cylinders, etc), linear actuators (belt, ball screw, induction, etc), vacuum generators and suction devices for product manipulation
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and knowledge of electrical design and components from 12V to 480V and P&ID diagrams
- Knowledge and ability to demonstrate of standard codes by: UL, NEC, NFPA, Lean Process Design Methodology, electrical systems and circuit protection, AC system and DC systems, familiar with maintaining and documenting for change management control, complete functional analysis (FTA, 5Y, etc)
- Ability to use a digital multimeter
- Analyze the dynamic operating and stopping configuration of equipment
- Demonstrate and coach site standards for safety and operational compliance
- Design or update the electrical and pneumatic plans of equipment
- Ability to create specifications (as needed by specific activities)
- Manage 3rd party subcontractors
Production & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor the performance (QCDM) of equipment's to identify room for progress and implement progress actions in his field (TRP, breakdown & micro stoppages rate progress)
- Perform continuous improvement on equipment (reliability, cost, performance, cycle time)
- Support the production & maintenance departments, to improve the MTTR ( analysis, problem solving)
Safety & environment
- Practice LOTO procedures
- Ensure the respect of Safety and Environmental directives
- Act to reduce accident risks
- Act to improve the 5S (including machines’ documentation) and react to issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an industrial electrician or PLC technician in manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, calibration, sensors, industrial automation, and equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with programming in engineering environments for PLCs and industrial controls.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, schematics, and blueprints accurately.
- Experience with vision inspection systems, CNC machinery, sensors, calibration tools, and high-voltage systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic systems, E & I (Electrical & Instrumentation), and safety procedures related to electrical work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on engineering troubleshooting using precision measuring instruments like ohmmeters.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with maintenance teams and field service personnel.
