Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in dental administrative support, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient service. In this role, you will greet patients at the front desk, coordinate patient appointments, handle medical billing and coding, and ensure the smooth functioning of daily clinic activities. Your expertise in electronic health record (EHR) systems and health insurance verification will be essential to providing efficient and compassionate care to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using dental clinic management software.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures with professionalism and accuracy, ensuring adherence to clinical confidentiality policies.
- Handle medical billing, collections, and coding processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare documentation review.
- Maintain accurate medical records and electronic health records (EHR) management
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, insurance coverage, and health information updates via phone and in person.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies to support daily clinic operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of health insurance policies, claims processing, and clinical documentation standards to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating treatment plans and ensuring timely documentation review for accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools and dental software for report generation and correspondence while maintaining high standards of customer service at the front desk.
- Cleanliness is a team effort in our offices. Helping upkeep the waiting area, sanitizing the front desk, and organizing the patient area include wiping surfaces, tidying magazines, and restocking supplies. Overall office cleanliness is the responsibility of all team members.
Experience
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience working in a dental clinic is required
- Knowledge of health information management practices related to clinical confidentiality policies and documentation review processes (HIPAA).
- Demonstrated experience in front desk operations within a healthcare environment with excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with dental clinic workflows, medical terminology, and office experience that supports efficient scheduling and patient flow management.
