Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic team on a remote, contract basis. Duties
- Prepare, review, and interpret financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Perform financial analysis and cash flow analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making for clients.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, governmental accounting standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with auditing procedures, internal controls, and regulatory reporting to uphold transparency and accountability.
- Mentor junior team members or clients’ staff on technical accounting concepts, bookkeeping best practices, and financial management strategies.
- Support tax preparation activities by applying tax experience to optimize filings while adhering to relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is mandatory; active certification preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting standards, and financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems; familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis is essential.
- Experience with SOX compliance, LIHTC programs, governmental accounting standards, securities law or Wills & estate law is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports and prepare comprehensive financial statements with clarity.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on accuracy in account reconciliation and general ledger management.
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and internal control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues or clients’ staff while fostering a collaborative work environment. Pay: $50.00 - $63.00 per hour
