ISDA’s legal department is seeking an intern to assist with daily legal issues as they arise in addition to undertaking longer-term assignments/projects over the course of the summer. The ISDA legal department plays a critical role in supporting ISDA’s mission to make the derivatives markets safe and efficient. Interns will gain substantive, first-hand insight into the issues facing ISDA’s member institutions and developments in the global derivatives market while building upon professional skills. This internship is perfect for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial law student interested in gaining corporate, in-house experience in the fields of business law, finance and derivatives.
- Complete legal research as requested
- Review, analyze and/or summarize legal documents
- Assist in preparing information, correspondence, presentations and materials for legal team
- Take notes and prepare memos during meetings and working group calls
- Maintain files and organize documents in shared libraries such as SharePoint
- Assist with databases and input information, data and records
- Attend company functions and networking events
- Collaborate with legal team members in various ISDA offices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter and able to work without continuous supervision
- Eagerness to tackle new projects
- Interest in business law/finance/derivatives
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Interest in corporate, finance, or derivatives law
- Ability to work collaboratively or individually
- Previous legal experience preferred (e.g. legal internship, school-based clinics/programs/externships, paralegal experience, etc.)
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in, and in good standing with, an accredited law degree program at a recognized law school in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Europe, meaning:
- United States: a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Canada: a law school accredited or recognized by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada or a Canadian provincial law society
- United Kingdom: a law school recognized by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and/or the Bar Standards Board, or otherwise authorized to award qualifying UK law degrees
- Europe (excluding the UK): a university law faculty recognized under the national higher‑education accreditation regime of its home jurisdiction
- Must be 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States
