Job Overview
The Barback supports the bar and beverage operation by stocking, preparing, and maintaining the supplies, ice, glassware, and garnishes needed for prompt beverage service in the hotel’s bar, dining outlets, pool area, or other assigned service locations. This role includes restocking liquor, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic products, changing kegs, cutting and preparing garnishes, clearing and running glassware, keeping bar and service areas clean and organized, assisting bartenders and servers during service, and following all sanitation and responsible alcohol service standards. Full-time and part-time positions may be available. Shifts, days, hours, and schedules will vary based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Job Responsibilities
Bar Support & Stocking

Stock and replenish liquor, beer, wine, mixers, juices, sodas, and non-alcoholic products before, during, and after service

Keep ice bins, wells, coolers, and service stations filled and organized throughout the shift

Wash, polish, and restock glassware, bar tools, and service items

Cut, prepare, and replenish garnishes, fruit, and prepared mixes according to hotel recipes and sanitation standards

Change kegs, connect and clear draft lines as directed, and report equipment issues to management

Follow all company service standards, safety procedures, sanitation guidelines, and responsible alcohol service practices
Service Support & Efficiency

Maintain working knowledge of beverage offerings, menu items, specials, allergens, and preparation standards

Anticipate bartender and server needs and respond promptly to requests during high-volume periods

Assist with running food and beverages, clearing glassware, resetting tables, and bussing service areas

Support setup and breakdown for banquets, pool service, and special events as assigned

Do not serve alcoholic beverages to guests unless assigned to do so and properly certified; monitor and report any responsible-service concerns to a bartender or manager
Inventory, Deliveries & Storage

Receive, move, and store beverage deliveries, cases, and kegs using proper lifting techniques and equipment

Rotate stock, date products, and follow first-in, first-out storage practices

Assist with inventory counts, requisitions, and transfers between outlets and storerooms

Maintain secure, organized, and accurate storage of all beverage products and bar supplies
Cleanliness & Organization

Maintain cleanliness of the bar, back-bar, guest-facing service areas, workstations, and assigned areas

Empty trash and recycling, break down boxes, and keep storerooms, coolers, and walk-ins clean and orderly

Ensure glassware, bar tools, menus, garnishes, and service items are clean, organized, and properly stocked

Complete opening, closing, and side work duties related to assigned outlet service

Follow sanitation, safety, chemical-handling, and equipment-use procedures

Report maintenance, safety, or equipment concerns to management
Product Knowledge & Guest Engagement

Maintain knowledge of all property amenities and on-site dining and beverage options

Greet guests courteously and answer basic questions or refer them to a bartender, server, or manager

Support the guest experience by keeping service areas presentable and fully stocked
Prepare garnishes and bar mixes consistently according to recipes and presentation standards

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Barback, bar support, food and beverage, hotel or guest service experience preferred. Equivalent hospitality experience may be considered.

Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and workplace standards
Certifications: California Food Handler Card required within 30 days of hire. Responsible Beverage Service certification required within 60 days of hire. Additional certifications may be required based on assigned outlet, job duties, or applicable law.

- Constant standing, walking, and balancing throughout shift

Frequent to constant bending, reaching, lifting, and use of manual and gross motor skills

Frequent crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and climbing stairs or ramps to storage areas

Frequent carrying/lifting up to 25-50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance or equipment

Ability to move kegs, cases, and ice using proper lifting technique, carts, or dollies

Ability to safely handle glassware, bar tools, beverages, and food items in a service environment
