Rooted Rhythm is a rapidly growing pediatric and family mental health practice committed to bringing exceptional, relationship-based care to children, teens, and their families.
Since opening in 2019, we’ve grown from one therapist to a team of more than 50 clinicians and staff and have served over 3,000 families — while working hard to maintain the heart, connection, and clinical integrity our practice was built on.
We’re now looking for an experienced pediatric psychologist specializing in psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment to help us launch and lead a new pediatric evaluation program.
Our primary needs are currently in Denver, Colorado and Dallas, Texas, but opportunities may be available at any of the Rooted Rhythm locations listed on our website.
This will be a lead position from the start. We’re looking for someone who is excited not only to conduct exceptional evaluations, but also to help shape the clinical standards, systems, and direction of a new assessment program within a fast-growing pediatric mental health practice.
The Children & Families You'll Serve
Our evaluation program will focus specifically on children and adolescents, with a strong emphasis on understanding the whole child.
Depending on your training and areas of competence, evaluations may include:
- Comprehensive pediatric psychological evaluations
- Pediatric neuropsychological evaluations
- ADHD evaluations
- Autism evaluations
- Learning and academic evaluations
- Giftedness assessments
- Twice-exceptional (2e) evaluations
- Cognitive and intellectual assessments
- Diagnostic clarification for complex presentations
- Emotional, behavioral, and developmental assessments
We are particularly interested in finding someone with meaningful expertise working with gifted and twice-exceptional children.
Many of the children we serve don’t fit neatly into one diagnostic box. A child’s giftedness may mask ADHD, autism, a learning difference, or emotional challenges — while those same challenges can also obscure a child’s strengths.
We want a psychologist who understands that complexity and is skilled at identifying both areas of strength and areas where a child needs support.
What You'll Do
As the founding lead of this new program, you’ll have the opportunity to both provide evaluations and help us thoughtfully build the service line.
Your work may include:
- Conducting comprehensive pediatric psychological and/or neuropsychological evaluations
- Clinical and developmental interviews with children and parents
- Selecting appropriate, individualized assessment batteries
- Administering and/or overseeing testing within your scope of training and competence
- Scoring, interpretation, and integration of assessment findings
- Writing thoughtful, high-quality integrated reports
- Providing feedback sessions that families can actually understand and use
- Developing meaningful recommendations for home, school, therapy, and other supports
- Collaborating with Rooted Rhythm therapists and other treating professionals when appropriate
- Helping establish clinical standards and workflows for our growing evaluation program
- Helping us think strategically about how the assessment program can grow over time
Because Rooted Rhythm works with insurance, this position will also involve insurance-based evaluations when applicable, including associated authorization, documentation, billing, and medical-necessity requirements. Some evaluations may be private pay when appropriate and permitted.
Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Neuropsychology, or another appropriately accredited psychology program
- Is licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in the state where they will practice
- Has significant training and experience in pediatric psychological and/or neuropsychological assessment
- Has experience independently conducting comprehensive evaluations and producing high-quality integrated reports
- Has specific experience assessing gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) children
- Has experience with ADHD, autism, learning differences, developmental concerns, and complex diagnostic presentations
- Understands how neurodivergence, giftedness, learning, emotional functioning, and family systems can interact
- Is comfortable working with insurance requirements related to psychological assessment
- Practices carefully within their individual areas of training and competence
- Is collaborative, warm, curious, and excited about helping build something new
Formal specialization in neuropsychology is welcomed but not required for psychologists whose training and experience appropriately qualify them to provide the specific assessments they perform. Full neuropsychological evaluations would only be provided by clinicians with the appropriate training and competence to offer them.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who sees the person and family behind the testing data.
Compensation & Structure
Pay: $70/hour
This position will begin with an hourly compensation structure as we launch and grow the program. Compensation applies to approved evaluation-related clinical work, including assessment, scoring, interpretation, report writing, feedback sessions, and other associated clinical responsibilities.
For reference, a psychologist working an average of 30 paid hours per week for 48 weeks per year would earn approximately $100,800 annually at this rate, with flexibility in how those hours are structured.
We are open to part-time or fuller-time schedules and understand that assessment work does not always fit neatly into a traditional weekly schedule. We’re happy to explore a structure that works for both the psychologist and the needs of the program.
This is a pilot program within a fast-growing practice, with the opportunity for the position, compensation structure, and leadership responsibilities to evolve as the program grows.

This is particularly important for twice-exceptional children, whose remarkable strengths and very real challenges can sometimes mask one another.
