Bookkeeper / Accountant – Public Accounting

We are seeking a motivated Bookkeeper / Accountant with 7+ years of relevant experience to join our growing team. Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, sales tax preparation, reconciliations, and preparing monthly financial statements. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including invoicing, billing, and vendor payments
- Process payroll and support related filings and reporting
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and related compliance filings, as applicable
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and investigate/resolve discrepancies
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and organized records in accordance with firm standards
- Work directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide professional support
- Collaborate with partners, managers, and staff to ensure timely completion of engagements
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in bookkeeping/accounting, including A/R, A/P, payroll, and sales tax preparation
- Experience with reconciliations and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Strong client service and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with QuickBooks required; experience with other accounting systems strongly valued
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
