The Unit Secretary provides clerical services under the direction and supervision of the charge nurse. Acts as a unit receptionist, responsible for clerical and secretarial functions, and transcribing orders. Works as an interdepartmental liaison and serves as a public relations representative. Performs other duties as directed.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
One year of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Must be able to read and write legibly.
- Must demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.
- Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and make appropriate decisions following organizational and departmental policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills for documentation and patient, family, and staff interactions to convey clear concise instructions and to accept information to understand and make decisions.
