Position Overview
The Bristol Hotel is seeking a Lead Line Cook to join our culinary team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled cook who is ready to take the next step into leadership.
As a Lead Line Cook, you will play a key role in driving consistency, supporting team development, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations during service. You will work closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to uphold culinary standards while helping lead and mentor the team.
This position requires someone who can perform at a high level while maintaining professionalism, composure, and clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
Culinary Execution
- Prepare and execute menu items with consistency, quality, and attention to detail
- Oversee assigned station(s) during service and assist across the kitchen as needed
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead by example in professionalism, urgency, and teamwork
- Support and guide line cooks and prep staff during service
- Assist with station assignments, prep execution, and shift readiness
- Ensure completion of daily checklists and closing responsibilities
Communication & Service Flow
- Communicate clearly and effectively with both BOH and FOH teams
- Support smooth service by anticipating needs and addressing issues proactively
- Maintain composure and professionalism during high-pressure service periods
Operations & Support
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving as needed
- Support labor efficiency, portion control, and waste management
- Step into additional responsibilities in the absence of kitchen leadership
Quality & Consistency
- Perform line checks to ensure readiness before service
- Uphold culinary standards across all stations and shifts
- Collaborate on menu execution, plating, and daily features
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of professional kitchen experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of culinary techniques and kitchen operations
- Ability to lead a team while maintaining a positive, professional environment
- Strong communication skills with both BOH and FOH
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and solution-oriented under pressure
- ServSafe certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure environments is required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a hot, high-energy kitchen environment
