Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Medical Receptionist to join our specialized Retina Practice. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative duties. Your expertise in medical office procedures, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, and insurance processes will ensure smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
- Manage patient scheduling using EMR systems, ensuring efficient flow of appointments.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
- Collect and process payments, including copays and outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records by reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information or directing calls to appropriate staff members.
- Support clinic operations by managing incoming correspondence, filing medical records, and handling administrative tasks such as data entry and appointment reminders.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems is a plus.
- Understanding of medical terminology and insurance verification processes, including Medicare.
- Demonstrated ability to handle medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to communicate clearly in bilingual environments preferred.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), data entry (10-key typing), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing accuracy.
