Summary of Position:
The primary responsibility of a Dishwasher is to maintain the BOH dish area and adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding washing dishes, storing clean dishware, and food safety. Other duties as expected when the need arises. Must be a self-starter. Constantly looking and finding the next “to-do” without needing to ask. Will be required to assist wherever and whenever needed within the culinary program. Will be required to perform basic prep functions (example: chopping parsley, slicing tomatoes etc.). Cleanliness, organization, timeliness and communication are the main tenant responsibilities of this position.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow procedures in regards to our opening and closing checklists
- Pick up garbage from the prep line, cook line and other areas of the Mill
- Wash all dishes as they arrive in the dishwashing area, including but not limited to scrubbing large pots, pans, cookware, plates, silverware, glassware, prep equipment, sharp knives and special event smallwares
- Possible portioning of items directed by kitchen management with proper recipe procedures
- The dishwasher is responsible for returning all plateware, cookware, silverware, and special event smallwares to their designated areas in the kitchen, warehouse, and loft.
- Show flexibility regarding work schedule to ensure the efficient operation of the restaurant, as directed by the Kitchen Management
- Maintain a high level of personal cleanliness and follow the dress code
- Be a team player; Help out fellow employees when possible
- Follow cleanliness standards by completing daily opening and closing checklists. Making sure they are visible to Kitchen Management and the President for daily and weekly review
- Mop, sweep, deck scrub and keep your area clean and ready for all audits, and ensure your area adheres to all MCES standards
Qualifications
- No prior experience needed
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Possess an up-to-date food handler permit or credential for the county in which he/she is employed
- Be able to cope with the stress of seasonal sales activity and hours
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
- Time Management: Work with employees, customers, and management. Time management is essential to make sure everything gets done.
- Have outstanding customer skills and an outgoing, friendly personality
- Be able to communicate with and understand the predominant languages(s) of customers and staff
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- A passion for the culinary sciences and team building
- Excellent critical thinking & decision-making skills
