Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Salary Range: $115,000-$135,000/YR
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking experienced Project Managers to oversee large-scale commercial and data center telecommunications projects in the Cedar Rapids market. This role will be responsible for project planning, execution, financial performance, customer communication, field coordination, and successful project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects from initial proposal and contract review through final customer acceptance and close-out.
- Review project drawings, specifications, bid documents, contracts, and work orders to identify scope, requirements, and potential changes.
- Work directly with customers to understand project objectives, staffing needs, schedules, and execution requirements.
- Develop project start-up, mobilization, and resource plans to ensure labor, equipment, and materials are available when needed.
- Coordinate closely with Operations and field leadership to establish effective project execution strategies.
- Maintain project schedules and monitor progress to ensure contractual commitments, milestones, and customer expectations are met.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, internal personnel, and other project resources to maintain efficient project execution.
- Monitor project costs, profitability, productivity, and overall performance while taking corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain accurate project reporting and provide regular updates to customers, management, and internal stakeholders.
- Represent the company in customer meetings, progress reviews, conference calls, and other project-related discussions.
- Coordinate with engineering and site personnel on change orders, scope adjustments, and other project modifications.
- Work with field and quality teams to ensure installations meet project specifications, applicable standards, and established quality requirements.
- Coordinate with customer teams and internal resources to maintain master schedules and communicate changes that could affect project delivery.
- Track project performance against established budgets and schedules, identifying risks and developing solutions to keep work on track.
- Partner with project and accounting personnel to support an efficient project close-out process, including customer acceptance and final documentation.
- Assist with accounts receivable activities when required.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to project team members and field personnel.
- Promote continuous improvement and Lean practices while supporting the adoption of new technologies and improved project processes.
- Support senior project and regional operations leadership as needed.
- Participate in company meetings and other business activities as assigned.
- Overnight travel may be required based on project and business needs.
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certifications:
- PMP certification preferred.
- BICSI RCDD certification preferred.
- BICSI RTPM certification preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, data center construction, telecommunications, or project management.
- Experience managing large-scale projects, including projects valued at $1 million or more.
- Background with structured cabling, rack infrastructure, and related telecommunications installations.
- Experience managing projects performed under Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contracts.
- Knowledge of BICSI standards, general building codes, and industry safety and quality requirements.
- Familiarity with structured cabling products and systems, including manufacturers such as Panduit, CommScope, Corning, or similar.
- Demonstrated success managing telecommunications or data center construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, resource planning, and contract requirements.
- Ability to analyze project issues, perform root-cause analysis, and make sound decisions regarding schedules, procedures, and execution strategies.
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with customers, senior management, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments.
- Demonstrated ability to support the development and management of field teams.
