Position Overview
The Development & Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s marketing and communications strategies to elevate brand visibility, engage key audiences, and support fundraising goals. This role also includes researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals and reports to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and mission-driven professional with excellent communication skills who can tell our story, connect with diverse stakeholders, and help grow our impact through strategic marketing and successful grant acquisition.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or grant writing (non-profit experience preferred).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an ability to tailor content to different audiences.
- Experience managing social media, websites, and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva).
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Availability on evenings and weekends to set up and support CAC fundraising events.
- FBI Fingerprinting, Child Abuse, and Criminal History Clearances required
Preferred:
- Proven success in securing grant funding.
- Familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, etc.).
- Graphic design skills or experience with tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
- Passion for and commitment to the mission of the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications (60%)
- Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Manage the organization’s website, social media platforms, and email newsletters, ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging.
- Create content including blog posts, press releases, digital ads, brochures, flyers, annual reports, and other promotional materials.
- Coordinate media outreach and build relationships with journalists and local media.
- Track analytics and engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and optimize strategies.
- Collaborate with program staff to highlight stories of impact and promote events, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Attend chamber and other networking events to support the CAC in visibility.
Grant Writing & Fund Development (40%)
- Research prospective grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports tailored to specific funder guidelines and priorities.
- Maintain a grant calendar to track submission deadlines, reporting requirements, and funding cycles.
- Collaborate with Executive Director to gather program data, budgets, and outcomes for proposals and reports.
- Assist with donor communications, sponsorship packages, and fundraising campaigns.
