Carolina Energy Systems is a professional generator installer serving Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. To help the company’s growth objectives we are looking for a team-oriented Generator Technician who enjoys working on new challenges every day.
We are seeking to hire a full time generator technician to join our team who can perform troubleshooting on Commercial & Residential Standby Emergency Generator Systems. This role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and repairing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The Technician will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and providing exceptional service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Perform startups on new generators from various manufacturers.
- Perform portable load banking on equipment.
- Identify additional preventative maintenance needs including but not limited to the replacement of belts, hoses, and batteries.
- Diagnose and repair components of generators, engines, and automatic transfer switches.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service history for each piece of equipment.
Experience:
- Proven experience in equipment repair, particularly with generators or automotive systems.
- Previous experience as a service technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Training from accredited technical school in gaseous or diesel engines or prior job experience with diesel or gas engines.
- Willing and able to travel for further training specific to the generator industry as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Hourly Rate: $20.00 - 32.00 per hr. depending on experience.
- Overtime Rate: 1.5 times the base rate for anytime over 40 hours.

Carolina Energy Systems has 2 locations. One is located in Penrose, North Carolina and the other in Greenville, South Carolina. This job is located at the Greenville office although there will be travel to both locations.
