The Lake Rental Attendant supports smooth and safe kayak rental operations at our lakefront locations. This role includes assisting with daily opening and closing tasks, providing friendly and helpful guest service, and ensuring all equipment is clean, properly maintained, and ready for use. Attendants help create a welcoming environment by offering guidance, answering guest questions, and promoting a safe and enjoyable experience on the water. Strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and a positive, guest-focused attitude are essential to helping every visitor enjoy a seamless and memorable day at the lake.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Whalon Lake Kayak Rentals Opening / Closing procedures
-
Knowledge and proficiency in kayaking, including but not limited to: proper paddling techniques and kayaking safety standards.

Work independently during regular operations
-
May be required to act as primary responder in rescue and emergency scenarios

Handles bookings, retail sales etc. and instructs guests on the use of equipment. Addresses guest escalations as needed.

Consistently communicates with members of The Forge leadership team regarding operations, any pending concerns, guest escalations, activity materials needs, and/or any other needs related to the successful operation of the activity

Ensures all assets associated with the activity are in good working order and are properly secured when not in use. Keeps working areas organized, neat, and tidy

Provides exceptional stewardship of all assets and reports maintenance issues and needs to The Rentals Supervisor in a timely manner.

Informs management of any/all incidents; if necessary, reports said incident within 24 hours of its occurrence

Addresses guest escalations as needed

Enforce alcohol sale and distribution in accordance to The Forge policies and local/ state laws
Will be responsible for following Lemont Quarries Operations cash policies. These include safe management, change requests, and preparing deposits daily.

End of day reports are expected to be submitted by the end of business day

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 21 years of age

Meets participant requirements

Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills and manual dexterity. Position requires the ability to reach, climb, lift, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as standing for extended periods

Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods

Has exceptional decision-making, risk management, and customer service skills, an astute attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure

Possesses a team oriented attitude, punctuality, professionalism, and desire to help others (guest and peer alike)

Ability to easily adapt to changing needs and requirements

Must have or be able to attain IL BASSET prior to start of the season

Must have or be able to attain Lifeguard / First Aid certification prior to start of the season
SCHEDULING AND STAFFING:
-
Lake Rental Attendants are a seasonal PT position that will require Thursday - Monday commitment between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Weekend availability in the Fall
