Job Summary
The position of Supplier Quality Engineer is to oversee the supplier quality process to ensure a world class quality product is being installed on our customer’s vehicles. Development, maintenance and continuous improvement of IATF16949 facility process documentation, review of supplier Directed Buy PPAP’s, and quality concerns. This position will ensure on time launch support, as well as address and review plant and supplier concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor inspection procedures for receiving Inspection, ensure receiving checklist is followed per QMS Procedures/ Requirements.
- Safe launch kick-off meetings with suppliers and supports new programs.
- Facilitate supplier audits and technical meetings to monitor and assess supplier performance, improve supplier communication, discuss existing or potential problems, review deficiencies, review analytical data, review improvement opportunities, identify new or improved technologies, and educate suppliers on Ground Effects supplier requirements.
- Support/Monitor the adherence to the Supplier Qualification & Approval process for the development of Directed Buy Supplier PPAP’s, collection and analysis of supporting data, and recommendations on long-term supplier viability. Support Epicor PPAP releases.
- Monitor the Supplier Nonconformance process and escalate issues that are not resolved in a timely manner. Drive the implementation of robust root cause investigations and corrective/preventative actions.
- Generate Supplier Corrective Actions (SCAR) issuance as required. Follow up with Suppliers for completion/closure.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
- Participate in an effective supplier communication process including supplier development activities – evaluate and make recommendations on Supplier Improvement activities.
- Complete monthly GFX Non-Conformance reports to the Customer.
Qualifications
- Education
- Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering with emphasis on Supplier Quality.
- Experience
- Minimum Required: 1 to 3 years of supplier quality engineering experience in TS16949 or IATF16949
- Preferred: 3 to 5 years supplier quality management or leadership experience with an automotive manufacturing or military background
- 3 or more years of experience with TS16949 or IATF 16949, Quality Audits, and Environmental Management System and OSHA Requirements
- 3 or more years of experience with tier 1 level submission for PPAP for all quality documents
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Must have knowledge of TS16949 or IATF 16949
- Must be familiar with MS Office
- Required: Familiar with IATF:16949, Environmental Management System and OSHA Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with the APQP process including FMEA and Control Plan development.
- Must have knowledge of and experience with PPAP submissions.
- Able to identify quality issues relating to work instructions and quality processes.
- Advanced computer, communication, organizational and time management skills
- Must be team oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
The following working conditions are present or expected on a daily basis:
- Must be willing to travel as required with short notice, if applicable
- Office setting in manufacturing environment with limited managerial assignments.
- Limited exposure to weather elements, chemical, robotics, industrial manufacturing and automotive vehicles.
- Must comply with all Company policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times while on the production floor.
