Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, cloud-native development, and microservices architecture. This role is responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and supporting highly scalable backend services and APIs that power enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer with deep technical knowledge, cloud experience, and a passion for building secure, resilient, and high-performing applications. This individual will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, QA Engineers, Front-End Developers, DevOps, and Platform teams to deliver reliable business solutions while driving modernization initiatives and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop cloud-native microservices following modern software architecture principles and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in system architecture, application design, and technical planning sessions.
- Build secure, reliable, and high-performance services that support enterprise-scale applications.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using Azure DevOps.
- Integrate applications with databases, messaging systems, and third-party services.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, resiliency, and observability.
- Conduct peer code reviews and promote clean coding standards, secure development practices, and software quality.
- Support application modernization initiatives, cloud migration efforts, and technical debt reduction.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership across development teams.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency, testing, documentation, and software delivery.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience developing enterprise backend applications.
- Strong experience with Java 17 or later.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring ecosystem technologies.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
- Experience with Azure services including:

- Azure Service Bus
- Azure API Management
- Application Insights
- Azure Monitor
- Experience with Git, Azure DevOps Repos, pull requests, and branching strategies.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases, data modeling, and application integration patterns.
- Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise applications and distributed systems.
- Understanding of application scalability, resiliency, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development teams.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted coding and testing solutions.
- Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker containerization.
- Experience with Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus.
- Experience building cloud-native enterprise applications.
- Experience in banking, financial services, fintech, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC), OWASP principles, and application security best practices.
- Experience with application monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Familiarity with sustainable coding practices and performance-efficient system design.
