What the work looks like
Most days, you'll be out walking dogs while their people are at work. When clients travel, you'll care for cats in their homes, keeping routines steady and stress low. Every visit is a chance to be the highlight of a pet's day.
- Dog walking runs Monday through Friday, generally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Expect to walk 5 to 7 miles a day. This job keeps you moving.
- You'll drive your own vehicle from client to client, averaging about 100 miles per 20 hours worked.
- Some after-hours care opportunities are available if you want them.
If you take night classes, are retired, or needing something to fill your days, this could be exactly the fit you've been looking for!
One honest note: our clients count on us most during holidays and school breaks. If you're a student who heads home when campus empties out, this won't be a good fit.
Who we're looking for
We hire people who love serving people, enjoy animals, and understand the responsibility that comes with caring for them. The best fit brings:
- A positive attitude and genuine care for pets and their people
- Strong time management. Pets are waiting on you, and their people are counting on you.
- A high level of integrity. You'll be trusted with keys, codes, and family members with fur.
- Experience in a veterinary clinic, boarding facility, or doggy daycare is a plus, but not required.
A few requirements
- Must be 21 or older
- Must live in Columbia (living within our service area is a plus)
- A reliable, insured vehicle with the ability to transport animals
Compensation
Every member of our team is a W-2 employee, not a 1099 contractor. That means real payroll, real protections, and a real team behind you.
- Pay starts at $15 per hour, plus tips
- Optional mileage reimbursement of $0.20 per mile
