Financial Representative / Future Financial Advisor
Career Change Opportunity | No Financial Experience Required
West Hartford, CT | Full-Time | Entrepreneurial Career Path
Successful in your career—but wondering if you’re capable of more?
Maybe you’ve built a career in sales, recruiting, healthcare, education, business development, athletics, management, technology, real estate, or another relationship-driven field.
You’ve learned how to communicate. You know how to earn trust. You’re motivated, competitive, and comfortable talking with people.
But maybe you’ve also started asking yourself:
Is there a bigger opportunity for me?
Could I build something of my own instead of continuing to build someone else’s business?
What would my career look like if my income potential were tied more directly to my performance?
Northwestern Mutual is looking for ambitious professionals who are ready to consider a career change into financial services.
- You do not need previous financial-services experience.
- In fact, Northwestern Mutual reports that approximately 70% of new advisors are career changers who come from other industries.
What matters far more is your ability to build relationships, develop trust, learn quickly, create a network, and bring the drive necessary to build a successful practice.
This Is Not a Traditional Salary Job
This opportunity is designed for someone who wants entrepreneurial upside, not simply another salaried position.
There is no guaranteed base salary.
Your compensation is performance driven and can include commissions, allowances, bonuses, incentives and other compensation tied to client acquisition and business activity. Northwestern Mutual describes advisor earnings as directly tied to the relationships advisors develop and their individual performance.
That means this opportunity may not be right for everyone.
But for someone who is motivated by ownership, growth and uncapped earning potential, it can create a very different career trajectory.
What Can the Opportunity Look Like?
- Successful advisors can build significant income as their businesses grow.
- Northwestern Mutual shares actual advisor-performance information with candidates during its recruiting process, including average and top-quartile earnings.
- Based on Northwestern Mutual recruiting materials used for advisor opportunities, top-quartile advisor earnings during the first three years can reach approximately $137,000–$250,000, depending upon production and performance.
These figures represent performance outcomes—not guaranteed compensation.
Your income is determined by the business you build.
And unlike many traditional careers, your earning potential does not necessarily stop increasing after year three.
As advisors develop larger client bases, deepen relationships, build teams and expand their practices, their businesses can become increasingly valuable over time.
You Bring the Drive. We Bring the Infrastructure.
