QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN
Compensation: $22-$24 per hour
Start Time 8pm
POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Control Technician ensures all seafood products meet the company and regulatory quality and safety standards. This role is responsible for inspecting raw materials and finished products, monitoring production processes, and maintaining accurate records to support compliance with FDA, HACCP, and company guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct routine inspections of seafood products (raw, cooked, frozen, or packaged) to ensure quality, freshness, and compliance with specifications.
Perform sensory evaluations (appearance, texture, odor, and taste) and laboratory testing (e.g., temperature checks, ph, histamine, and microbiological/environmental swabbing).
Monitor processing areas for proper sanitation, temperature control, and handling procedures.
Document inspection results, deviations, and corrective actions clearly and accurately.
Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and assist in the implementation of HACCP programs.
Support audits (internal, customer, and regulatory) by preparing records and participating in walkthroughs.
Calibrate, verify, and maintain testing equipment.
Collaborate with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams to resolve quality and food safety issues.
Report any non-conformities or potential food safety hazards to the QA/QC Supervisor/Manager immediately.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in food science, biology, or a related field preferred.
1+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably seafood.
Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and FDA seafood regulations.
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills are needed.
Ability to work in cold/wet environments and stand for long periods.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, data entry).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Cold storage and wet production areas.
