Job Summary
The Shift Supervisor is accountable for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop floor during their assigned shift. This position is responsible for ensuring that all employees follow established safety, fabrication, and quality processes. The Shift Supervisor maintains workflow discipline, enforces the production schedule, supports operator performance, and ensures accurate communication between the fabrication floor and administrative departments.
Essential Duties

Enforces all procedures, processes, and best practices within the operations of the shop.

Ensures operators follow approved fabrication methods, work instructions, and quality standards.

Conducts regular floor walks to identify unsafe conditions and correct them immediately.

Verifies that in-process checks and quality requirements are completed as directed.

Maintains workflow discipline by ensuring team members remain on task and aligned with the production schedule.

Communicates schedule updates, delays, material issues, and departmental needs to planning in a timely manner.

Provides clear feedback to the Engineering and Quality Departments when prints, instructions, or specifications require clarification.

Attends scheduled production meetings asrequired.

Works with production staff to resolve day-to-day issues that impact safety, productivity, quality, or flow.

Manage all employee performance, including coaching and developing employees, evaluating skills, delivering regular feedback, and administering corrective action or recognition as appropriate.

Supports onboarding and basic training of new employees assigned to the shop.

Monitors shop floor compliance with company procedures, processes, and best practices.

Helps maintain general shop organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S expectations.

Identifies and reports recurring issues, skill gaps, or process breakdowns to management for continuous improvement consideration.
