The Marine Fire Alarm Service Technician II independently performs inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of marine fire alarm systems. This role serves as the primary technician on assigned service work while mentoring Technician I employees and maintaining strong customer relationships.
The Technician II is expected to perform work safely, professionally, and in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and all applicable codes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently inspect, test, and service marine fire alarm systems.
- Troubleshoot wiring, panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and communication circuits.
- Program and configure fire alarm control panels when authorized.
- Perform annual inspections in accordance with NFPA 72, SOLAS, USCG, ABS, IMO, and manufacturer standards.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare complete inspection reports for customer repair proposals.
- Coordinate directly with vessel personnel and customers.
- Support emergency service calls.
- Train and mentor Technician I employees.
- Maintain truck inventory and specialized testing equipment.
- Assist with inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of marine fire alarm systems.
- Inspect fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes, annunciators, batteries, and related devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning, battery replacement, calibration, and functional testing.
- Assist with troubleshooting fire alarm system deficiencies under supervision.
- Complete inspection reports, service documentation, work orders, and customer documentation using company systems.
- Maintain company tools, testing equipment, inventory, and assigned vehicle.
- Follow all company safety policies and required PPE requirements.
- Participate in technical and safety training.
- Provide professional customer service while representing the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- TWIC Card
- Passport
- Ability to travel

- Manufacturer Certifications
- NICET Fire Alarm (preferred)
Experience
2–5 years of marine fire alarm, electrical, industrial controls, or commercial fire alarm experience.

Compensation
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $33-$46 per hour or , depending on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the Company's compensation practices.
