We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Toddler & Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. The Toddler & Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for ensuring the care and well-being of young children, assisting with potty training, and fostering positive relationships with students, families, and the community. This position is full time.
Should have at least 6 ECE units completed and willing to enroll for the remaining 6 units required by Licensing.
Duties
- Assist in daily preparation and upkeep of classroom.
- Prepare classroom activities and curriculum materials according to Lead Teacher.
- Supervise classroom as directed by Lead Teacher.
- Repair classroom materials or apparatus as necessary or directed.
- Assist with the maintenance of classroom inventory.
- Share the responsibility of constructive parent relations to facilitate their security and trust in the School.
- Share the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
- Assist in the supervision of playground and lunchtime.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Ability to relate to children in a positive, sensitive and constructive manner.
- Willingness to learn and practice the principles of Montessori philosophy in early childhood education.
- Willingness to take direction, and exercise initiative where appropriate.
- Ability to manage groups of children, eliciting their cooperation, without undue authority.
- Ability to work as an effective and supportive member of a team.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with unusual or emergency situations.
- Physical stamina, including ability to lift and carry approximately 40 lbs.
- Ability to relate to parents in a supportive and professional manner.
- Emotional maturity and an abundance of patience and love.
