Job Summary
The medical laboratory technician performs laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Performs tests and analysis in an accurate and timely manner using a variety of instrumentation.
Demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to perform and analyze a variety of laboratory tests, prepare reagents, standards and controls according to prescribed procedures.
Calibrates standardizes and maintains instruments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Performs quality control procedures to ensure proper functioning of instruments and reagents.
Validates and reports test results in a timely and accurate manner.
Researches and develops new procedures as assigned.
Assists in orienting and training new employees as well as students.
Adheres to hospital, departmental, personnel policies, and procedures. Also adheres to laboratory and hospital safety policies/procedures.
Contributes teamwork, quality improvement, and productivity of the department.
Demonstrates good attendance and work habits.
Communicates with patients, staff, and visitors in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
