About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Mental Health/Behavioral Health Therapist to join our student support team at a local elementary school. The ideal candidate will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health support services to students in grades K–5. This position plays a vital role in supporting the emotional and behavioral well-being of students and fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapeutic services, including individual and group counseling, to students with emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with students, families, and school staff.
- Collaborate with school administration, teachers, school counselors, social workers, and families to coordinate services and interventions.
- Deliver evidence-based behavioral and emotional interventions that align with students' developmental needs.
- Respond to mental health crises and provide appropriate support, including risk assessment and safety planning.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation in compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and school district policies.
- Participate in IEP/504 meetings and other student support team meetings as needed.
- Provide consultation and training for school staff on mental health, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral supports.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in child and adolescent mental health.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
- Active and unrestricted clinical license in the state of [Insert State] (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LPCC, LMFT).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children/adolescents in a school, clinical, or community mental health setting.
Preferred:
- Training in trauma-informed care, PBIS, CBT, or other evidence-based practices.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- School-based, in-person role following the academic calendar.
- Hours: Monday–Friday, typically 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Supportive and collaborative school culture with access to clinical supervision (if needed).
