Job Overview
This position requires afternoon hours of 2:15pm-6pm Monday - Friday however, flexibility for additional hours is also available. We are seeking a passionate and energetic School Age Teacher to inspire and nurture children during their after-school hours and camp activities. In this an in person role, you will create a safe, engaging, and educational environment where children can thrive, learn, and develop essential life skills. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development for school-aged children
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques
- Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play and ensure their safety at all times
- Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and daily experiences
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom
- Communicate with co-teachers and parents
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings such as daycare, camps, or youth programs
- This position requires qualifications that meet the Maryland State Department of Education to work with school age children such as; college level courses in Early Childhood Development and/or Elementary Education.
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Experience in behavior management strategies to support diverse learning needs
- Excellent child supervision skills ensuring safety during all activities
- Background in youth development program facilitation or teaching experience with young children is highly desirable
- Ability to lead team efforts as a team leader or co-facilitator in group setting
