Job Summary
We are seeking a high-energy, charismatic, and seasoned Senior Design & Sales Consultant to lead our residential pre-production and design-to-sale pipeline.
This is not a traditional behind-the-scenes design role. We are looking for a dynamic professional who pairs a sophisticated eye for design with a deep, instinctive passion for sales and relationship building. You are the face of L.G. Flint during the critical early stages of a project. Your mission is to take prospective clients from initial inquiry to a signed construction contract, translating their vision into a stunning, constructible reality.
You will guide our pre-production phase by directing creative concepts, steering client selections, and managing sales velocity. While you will have support from a talented, technically proficient in-house design team for heads-down drafting, you must possess the technical credibility and computer fluency to work within Chief Architect (or highly translatable 3D CAD design software) and speak authoritatively on architectural standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bubbly, Persuasive, and Energetic: You possess a magnetic, outgoing personality that immediately puts clients at ease and generates excitement about their projects.
- A Natural Relationship Builder: You understand sales in an intimate, consultative way. You do not just sell projects; you cultivate lifelong clients and community advocates.
- Design-Fluent: You have a deep understanding of both spatial/architectural design and interior styling. You can easily switch gears from talking about load-bearing walls to selecting soft finishes.
- A Collaborative Leader: You can guide, inspire, and elevate a design department through creative vision and strong communication, without needing to manage daily HR or administrative logistics.
Duties
1. Consultative Sales & Client Onboarding
- Act as the primary relationship driver for custom home and high-end remodeling leads, steering them warmly through the pipeline from initial consultation to contract signing.
- Conduct initial site visits and discovery meetings to assess client goals, spatial challenges, and aesthetic preferences.
- Present design proposals, concepts, and estimates with enthusiasm and persuasive, consultative authority.
- Maintain a high closing ratio by identifying client motivations, overcoming budget hesitations, and building absolute trust.
2. Creative & Material Design Leadership
- Lead the spatial, architectural, and interior design direction for custom residential projects.
- Curate and guide clients through the entire interior and exterior selection process, including finishes, cabinetry, fixtures, tile, lighting, and color palettes.
- Develop cohesive design concepts that respect the client's budget while pushing the boundaries of creative excellence.
- Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure L.G. Flint remains at the forefront of design trends and product availability.
3. Pre-Production & Collaboration
- Set the tempo for the pre-production phase, ensuring that estimating, design rendering, and proposal drafting move forward efficiently.
- Collaborate with our in-house design assistant to translate initial design concepts, hand sketches, and structural requirements into precise, code-compliant Chief Architect models.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to ensure that design concepts align with constructibility, structural realities, and target project margins.
- Champion our F.L.I.N.T. core values in the office and the community, serving as an inspiring leader and mentor within the pre-production team.
- Conduct initial site visits and discovery meetings to assess client goals, spatial challenges, and aesthetic preferences.
- Present design proposals, concepts, and estimates with enthusiasm and persuasive, consultative authority.
- Maintain a high closing ratio by identifying client motivations, overcoming budget hesitations, and building absolute trust.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of five years of professional experience in high-end residential design, residential architecture, or interior design, with a proven track record of direct sales success.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on competency with Chief Architect (or highly translatable 3D CAD design software) is required. Must be highly adaptable to modern office technology and communication tools.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with residential construction methods, building codes, estimating processes, and material costs.
- Education: Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred but equivalent real-world portfolio and sales experience will be highly valued.
- Local Connection: Familiarity with the Lynchburg/Central Virginia market and high-end residential expectations is a major plus.
