Position Summary
Phoenix Ortho Injury is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our growing team in Stone Mountain, Georgia. This position plays a vital role in supporting the financial health of the organization by managing both medical billing and accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a healthcare environment, possess strong knowledge of medical billing practices, and be comfortable communicating with outside organizations regarding outstanding balances and account resolution.
This role requires an individual who is proactive, persistent, professional, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships over the phone are essential.
Responsibilities
- Submit and monitor medical claims for accuracy and timely reimbursement.
- Manage assigned accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Contact payers, attorneys, medical funding companies, and other responsible parties to resolve unpaid or underpaid accounts.
- Research payment discrepancies and work toward timely resolution.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), remittance advice, and account activity to identify billing issues.
- Ensure accurate coding and billing practices are followed.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to resolve billing questions and obtain supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate documentation of collection efforts and account activity within the practice management system.
- Identify billing trends or recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
- Assist with month-end reporting and revenue cycle projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive patient and financial information.
- Perform additional revenue cycle and billing duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Experience working within a physician practice, orthopedic practice, ambulatory surgery center, or other healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and revenue cycle workflows.
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Familiarity with orthopedic and interventional pain management billing is strongly preferred.
- Experience using healthcare practice management software and electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Strong telephone communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a large volume of accounts.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
Preferred
- Experience managing complex accounts receivable.
- Knowledge of reimbursement methodologies and healthcare billing regulations.
- Experience identifying and resolving claim denials.
- Familiarity with multiple payer types and reimbursement workflows.
