TITLE: Dedicated Building Substitute (Full Time) - Moore Middle School
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Portland Public Schools has a Dedicated Building Substitute opening at Moore Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The Dedicated Substitute is onsite daily and supports a range of coverage needs. The Dedicated Substitute plays an essential role in providing continuity and consistency for the students at their assigned school. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for those who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Substitute for teachers who are out, fulfilling daily classroom functions, implementing lesson plans, and monitoring and supporting students; at times, the Dedicated Substitute may be assigned to the same classroom for multiple days.

Preference will be given to candidates who can also fill in other roles as needed, including test proctoring, working in specialized programs, or supporting hallway coverage
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

At least 2 years of college education

[Preferred] Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

[Preferred] Prior experience working with high school students
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

Schedule: School year, Full Time, 1.0 FTE (7-hour day)

Assignment: Temporary for 2026-2027 (position not guaranteed from year to year)

Wage: $28.99 per hour (rate subject to increase as of 26-27 school year)

Benefits: Eligible for approximately $500 per month toward a PPS medical benefits plan

PTO: Earned Paid Leave (EPL) provisions as per Maine law
