Job Overview
We are seeking hands-on Datacenter Field Operations Technicians to support a major hyperscale data-center campus in New Albany, Ohio. This is a physical-layer troubleshooting, break/fix, rack deployment, and maintenance role supporting large-scale data-center and AI infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rack receiving, rack/stack, cabling, energization, turn-up, relocation, and decommissioning activities.
- Install and dress copper and fiber cabling, including Cat6A, OM4, OS2, and MPO/MTP.
- Perform circuit QA/QC, loopback testing, fiber continuity testing, OTDR, power-meter, and VFL testing.
- Diagnose and repair Layer 1 connectivity issues involving fiber breaks, light levels, connectors, cables, and optics.
- Install and replace switches, line cards, transceivers, optics, and other network hardware following ESD procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance, fiber cleaning, cable dressing, and power QA support.
- Manage tickets, document failures and as-built information, and coordinate hardware RMA activities.
- Collaborate with provisioning technicians, engineering, facilities, site project teams, and supply-chain partners.
- Follow all required safety, PPE, ESD, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 2 5 years of experience in data-center cabling, network hardware installation, telecommunications, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic installation, termination, cleaning, inspection, and testing.
- Experience with large-scale rack deployment projects and enterprise or hyperscale data-center environments.
- Strong physical-layer troubleshooting and network hardware break/fix experience.
- Familiarity with ticketing, asset management, and workflow systems.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, stand/walk for extended periods, and work at heights, in confined spaces, and in warm data-hall environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Installer/Technician certification or equivalent.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Hyperscale or campus-scale data-center experience.
- Experience with AALC/liquid-cooled rack systems.
- Familiarity with DCIM platforms, barcode scanning, and asset management workflows.
- Background in telecom carrier operations or large enterprise network repair.
Schedule & Work Model
- Onsite: New Albany, Ohio; remote work is not available.
- Coverage: 24 7 across three 8-hour shifts: Day (7:00 AM 3:00 PM), Swing (3:00 PM 11:00 PM), or Graveyard (11:00 PM 7:00 AM ET).
- Work Pattern: 5 days on / 2 days off; approximately 40 hours per week.
- Shift Differentials: Apply to Swing and Graveyard shifts per company policy.
- On-Call: Rotating emergency response support may be required outside scheduled hours.
